I got to work on a lovely commission just before Christmas using one of the beautiful spinels that I have in stock and have been dying to set for ages!
The band is made from 2mm round 9ct recycled rose gold wire and the spinel is bezel set in 9ct rose gold. The spinel was sourced from rubyfair.com and was actually slightly pinky in tone, though my photos make it look more violet.
The ring was a birthday present from three daughters to their mum and I was delighted to receive an email from the mum shortly after receiving the ring saying, “I am very happy with my beautiful ring, and as an ex-geologist, delighted that it’s recycled materials too. I love the colour of the gold and the spinel is so gorgeous.” After a quick enquiry to my supplier, I discovered that the colour of their 9ct recycled rose gold is called “Victorian Red” which explains the deep rich tone of the metal.
I have more Rubyfair spinel in stock in a range of colours and sizes. One day I will get round to photographing them and putting them on my website for people to see! But until then please feel free to get in touch and enquire about a commission featuring an ethical spinel gemstone.
