I’m very excited to be able share some photos of this engagement ring with you now that I’ve heard the wonderful news that she said yes!
Jamie contacted me back in January this year to discuss an “ethical ring with full traceability” that “gives back” in some way. I’ve been working with recycled gold and smaller conflict free diamonds for some time now but this commission called for something more! Fortunately this coincided with me making contact with Fairtrade Gold and also a number of organisations that specialise in larger ethical diamonds.
I worked closely with Jamie to discuss different designs and I made a couple of mock up rings in silver to make sure that we got the perfect design before taking the plunge and making it in gold!
This is how this ring started out…
And this is the finished ring!
This ring is made from 18ct Fairtrade white gold and features an absolutely stunning 0.63ct brilliant cut white diamond. The gold is sourced from Capella Manufacturing and the diamond from Avilan which I’ve linked to here so you can read more about them.
It was such an enjoyable commission to work on and I’m so proud of the result, especially knowing that this ring has had minimal environmental impact and contributed towards a Fairtrade gold artisan mining community. It’s therefore extra special to then receive such wonderful feedback from Jamie and his fiancee ~
My partner was very keen on Victoria’s designs and I came to her with a concept of what I wanted in an engagement ring. She took that concept and through emails back and forth, new ideas and three mock-ups produced an absolutely stunning design that looks beautiful. She is professional and knowledgeable (she helped guide me on the structural strength of certain designs and manage my expectations on what could be achieved) and replies to enquiries promptly. Thanks again Victoria for producing such a beautiful ring that we can enjoy for years to come. We may be biased, but we both think it’s the nicest ring we’ve ever seen!
Massive congratulations to you both and I wish you a long and happy future together!
