Iolite is still a relatively new and under-used gemstone but is rapidly becoming more and more popular. The name “iolite” comes from the Greek word for violet, however it can actually range in colour from a sapphire blue to a light violet/grey.
Iolite has also been known as “water-sapphire” and “Vikings’ Compass” because of its usefulness in Vikings to determine the direction of the sun on overcast days!
Personally I absolutely love iolite and think it easily rivals stones such as sapphire for colour and beauty. The following rings feature 6mm round faceted iolite gemstones. The first is a chunky ring and the second is a very skinny ring, both with a satin finish ~
These stones are beautiful quality with clear sparkling facets. The stones are included but this adds to the natural beauty of the stones.
